People Watching is a short film about Lucy, a newcomer to a small beach town who finds herself entangled in a web of gossip and rivalry after befriending a colorful group of women—forcing her to question her loyalties and where she truly belongs.
The film premiered at the LA International Film Festival, received Honorable Mention at the Los Angeles Short Film Awards, and won Best Short Script at the Santa Barbara Screenplay Awards – Diverse Writers Outreach.
Twice Lost, 2024
Twice Lost is a 2024 short film from Aspiring Something Productions about a man trying to repair his marriage after ending an affair—only to find that healing isn’t as simple as saying sorry. Written and directed by Sam Szpor, the film quietly unpacks the complexities of love, regret, and reconciliation.
The film premiered at the Santa Clarita International Film Festival and had its local debut at the historic Alcazar Theatre in Carpinteria.
Twice Lost Premiere Q + A
The City of Carpinteria proudly sponsored the premiere of Twice Lost on June 6, 2024 at the Alcazar Theater. Following the screening, a panel discussion was held featuring the filmmakers and local mental health professionals. The discussion delved into themes of guilt, shame, and hope.
